About Lisa
Lisa Lo Russo is an artist/mother/teacher, a holistic practitioner, utilizing the arts of astrology and feng shui in her practice, working with the energies of the Earth and the cosmos to realize the true self. Lisa earned her BFA in drawing and painting from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1996 and her MFA from California State University, Long Beach in 2008. She also received her feng shui consulting certificate from the West Coast Academy of Feng Shui in 2008.
Lisa has been a student of astrology for most of her life, formalizing her education in this area, beginning in January 2020, just before the world as we knew it changed forever. Her study of astrology served as a guidepost throughout the turbulence of 2020 and 2021. She formerly served as the Director of Visual Arts at HOPE Center for the Arts, working with incredible outsider artists and savants, in southern California. Her project HOPE Art Lab was awarded an NEA grant in 2015, which culminated in the exhibitions Rhythmic Bond and Pulling the Forest Along the Road.
Her work has always been concerned with the human condition and how we make meaning with our experience. Light, sound, found and renewable objects, have featured prominently in her work as a visual artist. She began integrating her feng shui studies into her work through art exhibitions at UNIONartspace, a live/work space (which she founded in 2004 with her former partner).
She is a Gemini rising with her sun also in Gemini, and her moon in Cancer, with a predominance of air in her birth chart…which means she likes to communicate with words and talk…a lot!
